FOX Sports and NextVR Bring Live Virtual Reality to PBC matches with Samsung Gear VR

Virtual Reality has brought games and videos to the next level by making it more immersive to the user. Imagine how it would feel like watching a live boxing match in virtual reality. Sounds cool, right? Now you can experience that via NextVR with your Samsung Gear VR.

FOX Sports partners with NextVR, the forerunner of live-action virtual reality broadcast, to bring the sports boxing into the realm of virtual reality by broadcasting the Premier Boxing Champions live in virtual reality. FOX Sports will air the PBC matches on January 23 at 8 PM ET live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The PBC matches will be headlined by Danny “Swift” Garcia fighting against the former three-division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.

The NextVR PBC broadcast can be accessed for free via the NextVR portal. For those who want to watch in virtual reality, Samsung Gear VR users can access the match via the NextVR app on their Gear VR compatible Samsung handsets.

To get a fully immersive virtual reality experience on the match, NextVR will be setting multiple cameras around the ring, including the ringside. Graphics and fight commentary will also be aired simultaneously in the live stream so viewers can get all important updates and info from the match.

This is not the first live VR stream by NextVR and FOX Sports. The two has collaborated last year to bring virtual reality during the Auto Club 400 NASCAR race in Fontana, California, and the United States Open Golf Championship from Chambers Bay in Washington.

With virtual reality, you can experience what is like in the boxing ring right in the comfort of your house.
