Camu App Review: Creating Beautiful Images in a Jiffy

With the advent of mobile devices, mobile photography has become easy and fun. Mobile devices allow you to take photos, edit them, and instantly share them with the world. Your Android device may have a default camera app installed, but if you wish to use a camera app that offers more awesome features, you can download a plethora of third-party camera apps from the Google Play Store. One app is the Camu app.

The Camu app by Sumoing is a simple camera app that incorporates simple swipe gestures to easily add filters or adjust the clarity and brightness of your photos or videos. Everything is done live so you can edit your photos and see how it looks like even before pressing the shutter button. You can also add bokeh effects on your photos or instantly create photo collage with the app. Camu is a camera and photo editing app molded into one.

A simple camera interface will greet you upon launching the app. The screen is dominated by the viewfinder and below you'll find a row of buttons for toggling between camera modes, the shutter button, and an image thumbnail for opening the Camu photo gallery.

Adding filters to your photo is very easy on Camu. Just swipe left or right on the viewfinder to change a filter. Filters are added live so you can see how the photo will look like with that filter before taking a shot. There are 10 photo filters you can use in the app. You can also swipe up or down on the viewfinder to adjust photo clarity.

Tapping on the viewfinder will activate your camera's auto-focus feature and the auto-focus icon will appear on the screen. Beside that icon, you will notice a small dot which you can drag up or down to adjust the image brightness.

Once you're satisfied with your settings, tap the shutter button to capture an image. Camu allows you to edit the photo before saving or sharing it. However, if you activated the Direct Shooting mode, pictures will instantly be saved.

Access the app menu to enable modes such as Blur mode, Auto Timer, setting photo size, and various collage settings.

Enabling Blur mode will add a bokeh effect in your photos. Just tap which part of the photo you want to focus and the rest of the background will be blurred. You can also adjust the size of the focus zone.

Auto Timer works like your camera's self-timer function, but you cannot set the timer. The camera's timer is fixed. You can, however, set to take either 1, 2 or 3 photos while in this mode.

Camu also has various collage settings that you can use and instantly create beautiful collages. Take a number of shots depending on the collage style you have chosen and Camu will combine the photos for you. You can spice up each photo by selecting a unique filter and adjusting photo clarity and brightness for each photo in the collage.

You can also edit your photos in Camu's photo gallery. You can change filters, add a caption, and crop images. Camu can also generate a random quote and attach it on your photos.

Camu is a free app without ads. However, if you wish to add additional filters, you can purchase filter packs. The available filter pack in the app is the Fresh Classics pack which unlocks 10 additional filters for the amount of about US$2.

Camu is a simple camera that lets you shoot and create beautiful photos in a jiffy. It’s simple interface, easy-to-use functionality, and nice features make Camu one of my favorite camera app in the Google Play Store.
